I've never said to anyone that I'm a movie critic, but am passionate about cinema especially great cinema and I feel offended when an ok not great movie gets nominated. So here am simply listing a sample of the reviews given by respected critics one of them a New Yorker critic and ending with my conclusion. Personally, I did not like the film one bit, it's an overrated so called "masterpiece" especially that it was nominated for 14 Oscars come on 14 seriously more than Ben Hur(1959). But in the end at the mentioned night the biggest loser was La La Land with winning 6 out of 14. If you want to watch real quality musical get West Side Story( 1961) won 10 Oscars or The Sound of Music( 1965) won 5 Oscars. Some reviews via rotten tomatoes on La La land if you think am wrong. For sure you will find hundred if not more applauding but these days excellent reviews for an average movie is sponsored by the producers themselves just like the restaurant reviews. December 16, 2016 December 6, 2016 Audiences find themselves carried away. That may be sensible enough. What's odd is that La La Land is not the merry entertainment it sometimes seems to be." by Calum Marsh The one thing that Chazelle seems to have little interest in is life. He turns Mia into an absolute cipher, giving her nothing whatsoever to talk about." By Richard Brody I would love to go more & more about digging bad reviews for La La Land but am not to because at the end I will be considered this bias prick who hates new movies and prefers old ones. Yes, I confess I hate new movies and as years advance we are not seeing any improvement anytime soon. We are sadly living in the swamp of movie industry where bad & boring movies get nominated for such a prestigious award.
