As the previous article with quest theme, this article is about the hero avenging to who wronged to him/her. To remind the reader this top 10 was chosen by Rob Hill in his book and I will just give my opinion and take on each movie. Hope you have liked the series and tried the top 10 movies in the previous two articles.
Second article in this series is the Top 10 movies under "Quests Theme" Chosen by Rob Hill in his book on the top tens. Again with my overview and opinion on the movies suggested without prodigious. To whom might not know or unfamiliar with such theme, it's basically the main character with his/her supporting cast in a journey to fulfill their goal. Hope you like my take on these top 10 movies. Borat is definitely one of the most controversial, hilarious movies with even one of the most eccentric characters you would see in cinema. And at first audience would think that Borat quest in the movie is to learn American culture only to find out that his goal all along is Pamela Anderson. For the lovers of a unique and eccentric comedy Borat is your final destination look no further. In this masterpiece of Andrey Tarkovsky where the character of the stalker guiding another two their ultimate goal is to reach a place called the Zone ideally a dangerous & mysterious location. Along the route the three engage into many arguments. If you are searching for a movie that combines philosophical & adventurous quest then this is your movie. The Goonies your typical teen adventure movie about teenagers going the extra mile to safe their family house. A well constructed story originally written by Spielberg and directed Richard Donner, introducing two actors Sean Austin & Josh Brolin who later will become household names. For an evening with the family and the kids highly recommend. There's nothing like an old Greek quest, and in this classic mythology turned into a feature film this exactly what you get. The goal is clear and the adventures to reach this goal are many and dangerous and who but a demi-God and courageous companions can engage to such a quest. One of the best Greek mythology themed movies you can watch, highly recommended. The quest is set and the goal is clear and having an amazing cast and two brilliant directors in the cohen brothers is always a winning recipe. With many funny moments along their adventure O brother, where art thou? can be your movie if you like weird comedy moments & continuous adventures. 2001: A Space Odyssey in 1968 by Stanley Kubrick is one of the director's best films, it's the typical space quest and in my opinion when it comes to movies about space it's the number one movie to watch. Aguirre, the Wrath of God in 1972 , a German movie about a Spanish expedition in a quest to find El Dorado. If you are into European movies I would recommend but the majority of audiences these days go for the English speaking movies. Trilogy from the creative mind of J.R.R Tolkien brilliantly executed by Peter Jackson, with an all-star cast led by an actor who's got diversity of roles under his belt supported with a combination of talent unrivaled in their profession. When you want to describe these three movies words escape you simply brilliant & epic journey to our imagination and a quest like no other in the books of fantasy. Probably the best of the bunch in the Indiana Jones series, it's the movie that quite literally led some students to become history teachers or even more archaeology scientists. For me it made admire history and become hooked to it. It's a movie that I highly recommend but as position in this list I would see it after Lord of the rings. Considering that Wizard of Oz was released in the 30s and the brilliant job been done on this movie, it's fair to put it at spot number one but I can see lord of the rings trilogy here. The quest here is clear Dorothy wants to return home and along the way she meets and becomes friends with three weird character each lost something dear to them and have their own quest and the destination to accomplish such quests is finding the Wizard of OZ. Of course can't but recommend a films for all ages and all centuries.
My Series of top ten movies is basically based solely on the book compiled by Rob Hill " Movies over 100 top 10 lists". The discussion & comments on the movies Rob Hill chose is all my opinion or critique, any quotes about such movies will be referenced to give everyone his/her own right and to avoid plagiarism.
My first series of this list is about movies that got the protagonist( term in cinema for lead character) as an antihero. |
