What kind of a country we live in where we can't decide our own president? Really are we that immature to be unable to elect someone for such a position or are we in truth useless? It has been such a RollerCoaster in this country of ours Lebanon, or is it really ours. Do we have the right as Lebanese to call it ours. In other countries where they even respect the plants and the insects they can call it their country. Here in Lebanon and since the independence there's a specific so called elite of our community who are running the show who didn't really change in core.
Since the independence the feudal lords controlled all aspects of the government until the civil war, with the exception of Fouad Chehab period. Majority of Lebanese consider Chehab reign as the best in history of Lebanon and they forget the atrocities committed by the intelligence office(Maktab Tani). But did they really control or was it the French,British,or Egyptians. All mentioned played big roles in deciding our next president between 43 and 75, all taxes paid then by the Lebanese should have been charged to the entities that highjacked people decision. During the war and until the famous Taef gathering that stripped the president from so many roles the warlords controlled the government. But again did these warlords really been in control or they were controlled by bigger and powerful countries. Well, it's not really physics to know that these warlords are pawns moved by others. So the important question comes up again, why the hell are we paying any kind of taxes to our government and we don't have a say not only who comes as president but who would be our representative in the parliament. In the end of 90s somehow Lebanon settled and had some hope , except for some wars between us and Israel every now and then "coincidently" in summer time I wonder why. In these periods we had a troika who thought they controlled the government but of course they are dilussional or probably cooperative for few billions. Now in our lifetime there's one political/militia side who thinks they control the government with the support of certain Persian speaking nation who used to be fierce enemies to friend of the now before nicknamed "Grand Satan" now probably "Grand Santa" for the gifts in latest nuclear agreement. Now as we approach the next long awaited elections of a Lebanese president , who decides the factions politically fighting, the faction with the arms in their support, who really decides. To be honest I consider myself very much clueless in dirty Lebanese politics but what I know for a fact once any faction gets the secrete gesture from their regional or international support they will act accordingly. At the end whoever is elected is bound to be in good relations with game changers who are corrupt. If any candidate thinks they can play the game solo they are gravely mistaken and will be politically buried. Comments are closed.
