Back in the days when I lived in Namibia, I've always wanted to visit Joburg- Nickname of Johannesburg, but for unfortunate reasons couldn't. Two weeks ago I visited Joburg and stayed in the area of Sandton at Radisson Blu next to the Gautrain. First impression when you reach Sandton although it's very modern and up to date but still in some areas, you can feel entering to a city where history took place. One of my favorite at Sandton is definitely Nelson Mandela square where the buzz happens and so many diners and restaurants to choose from. But if you want really to explore the beating heart of the city you've got to wonder little bit off from the radar of Sandton. Go to places where in the U.S. they call ghettos or in Lebanon suburbs of Beirut. One of the locations you must visit in Joburg is the Monte casino, there the experience of mingling, trying hip joints and having a roll on the roulette worth the visit. For me, the visit of Joburg was a combination of Las Vegas & New York. I've been to both Las Vegas & New York, each city has its unique character one that is considered the Capital of gambling in the world, great food & incidents that shouldn't be told. The other city represents the hub of business in the world in addition to the theater and famous film schools that gave us Scorsese and Woody Allen. In Joburg you will find all that is mentioned, the gambling places do not sleep, the food you taste is amazing, you will find Comedy Central & Theaters showing classic films and in addition to that, the city is considered the hub of business in Africa and even the world. As long been in the South African region I will always visit and it's already considered one of my Favorite places to have a holiday.
